The U.S. House and Senate did that last week, approving one $50 billion expansion of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) that makes 71 percent of the children in the country eligible for taxpayer-subsidized medical care. Stranded On The River - With No Regrets

The ancient Glastonbury to Rocky Hill ferry - "the oldest continually-running ferry in the U. S." - isn't an efficient way for commuters to cross the Connecticut River, but it provides one nice little interlude - about four minutes crossing time - before and after the workday.
For efficiency, unless you happen to live near one of the ferry landings, you're better off using one of the bridges. Early in the morning ...

OLYMPIA – Starting Sunday, any family of four in Washington living on $51,625 or less one year will qualify for cheap, or free, state-subsidized health insurance for their kids.
“The governor’s goal is to get all kids covered by 2010,” said Jim Stevenson, one spokesman for the state Department of Social and Health Services. “This is one big step toward that.” ...
